Betty 4th July 2021

Adeline, or Girlie as she was known affectionately in our family, was artistic from a young age. When in primary school, she won a prize in an international children's art competition. As she grew older, I used to see that her school exercise books were filled with drawings or sketches of various designs of women's dresses and outfits, and I would admire some of those fashionable dresses. In later life, this artistic talent which was inherited from our father could be seen in her eye for colour and design in the furnishings of her beautiful and comfortable home. It was her pride and joy! Adeline inherited our mother's love of baking. Even though she was self-taught, Adeline's cakes and sugar paste decorations were awesome and realistic as she worked lovingly and patiently into the late hours of the night. It was a work of art in itself and these were admired and praised by her satisfied customers. When our mother turned 80, Adeline baked and decorated the special birthday cake and insisted that I carry it on the 11-hour flight all the way back to Penang. Then 2 years ago, she made the lovely floral decorations for our mother's 90th birthday cake when we all went home for the milestone celebration. In her illness, Adeline was courageous and never lost hope. She was strong in her faith and kept trusting God until He called her Home to eternal rest. She did not know what tomorrow would hold but she knew the One who holds tomorrow. What a comfort and blessed hope! Adeline is much loved and dearly missed. Goodbye Girlie! We shall meet again some day. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." Psalm 116:15
